The St. Petersburg Biennale of Museum Design is a collaborative platform for prominent Russian and foreign designers and museum professionals, a platform for the creation, demonstration and research of interesting solutions and best practices in exhibition design with an educational program including lectures for wide audiences and workshops for young designers. The project was initiated by the PRO ARTE Foundation in 2014. The three editions of the Biennale (2014, 2016, 2018) engaged 34 St. Petersburg-based museums, and presented 20 exhibition projects authored by designers from Russia, the UK, Germany, Denmark, India, Norway, the USA, and Finland.
Annually the Biennale holds a special programme for the design of new State Hermitage exhibitions.
In the framework of the educational program, over the three editions of the Biennale directors and curators of global museums, designers and architects have given 35 open public lectures, and 7 thematic workshops for young designers.

The Saint Petersburg Biennale of Museum Design is held by the PRO ARTE Foundation in partnership with the State Hermitage Museum with the support of the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture and the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation.
