Lectures are available only for participants of the School for Young Artists program
Daria Demekhina will discuss a variety of performance art forms, their connection to art institutions, and theoretical issues. Is it possible to make a clear definition of performance art, or is there an open-ended definition for performance? Does performance have a "hidden nature"? Did we know performance before the second half of the 20th century? What role does an audience have in a performance? Can a performance take place without an audience? Is there a specific territory for performance to take place?
Daria Demekhina is a Moscow-based performance researcher, curator, and artist of the Bureau of Performative Rituals together with Katya Ganyushina.
