At the meeting with artists participating in the Young Artist School program, gallerist Marina Gisich and Managing Director of the Marina Gisich Projects Galina Leontieva discussed the interaction between an artist and a gallery, the ways the gallery finds artists and the means a young artist becomes visible to the art market, the history of the Marina Gisich Gallery, its list of artists and principles of working with them.
Marina Gisich Gallery is one of the pioneering contemporary art galleries in St Petersburg. It was founded by Marina Gisich in 2000. At the moment it plays one of the key roles in the Russian contemporary art market. Throughout the past two decades, Marina Gisich Gallery has developed the contemporary program that now represents thirty distinguished artists, mostly of the Russian origin. These are the significant artists of the past 30 years, such as Evgeny Yufit, Vladimir Kustov, Marina Alexeeva, Boris Kazakov, Kerim Ragimov, Vitaly Pushnitsky, Gregori Maiofis, Kirill Chelushkin, Vladimir Kozin, Peter Belyi, Alexander Shishkin-Hokusai and others. The younger generation is presented among others by the School for Young Artists program’s graduates: Semyon Motolyanets, Asya Marakulina, and Tanya Akhmetgalieva.
