In her talk, St. Petersburg-based art critic and curator Olesya Turkina will discuss the simultaneity of experience in performance and video art. She will trace the perspective from the 1960s to the present day and review the works by Gary Hill, Woody and Steina Vasulka, Carolee Schneemann, Martha Rosler, AES+F, Valie Export, Maria Godovannaya, Victor Alimpiev, PROVMYZA art group, etc.
Olesya Turkina is a PhD holder in art history, curator, critic, a leading researcher at the Contemporary Art Department of the State Russian Museum, an associate professor of the Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences and a Board Member of the Curatorial Research programme at St. Petersburg State University.
