At the introductory lecture, Alexey Grachev will discuss the main modifications in new media technologies that have happened over the recent 15 years, the impact that these changes have had on art production, and new media in contemporary art projects today.
Alexey Grachev is a sound artist, engineer, and computer programmer. Since 2010, he is Technical Director and Chief Engineer at the Cyland Media Art Laboratory (St Petersburg, Russia). Grachev’s art practice includes sound art, interactive, kinetic, and media objects, and installation. He participated in numerous group projects and exhibitions in Russia, Germany, UK, including World Event Young Artists in 2012 in Nottingham, UK, 6th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2015, and CYFEST International Media Art Festivals in St Petersburg, Russia. Alexey Grachev graduated from Bauman Moscow State Technical University (Branch in Kaluga, Russia) and studied at the PRO ARTE Foundation’s School for Young Artists in 2014-2015. He lives and works in St Petersburg, Russia.
