ARTIST STRATEGIES AT THE EXHIBITION SPACE. Theory and practice course by Masha Danzis
February 13 – March 13, 2021
PRO ARTE Foundation at the Peter and Paul Fortress

The course is available for the participants of the School for Young Artists exclusively

Art project installation is a strategy that balances between an artistic concept and an exhibition space. The main task of the presentation is to create an atmosphere in which the viewer can comprehend the work of art as full as possible. At the same time, the installation of an art object is a part of work itself. The experience that the viewer gains while in the exhibition space is made up of a combination of many factors, from cultural to technical. During the course, artists will discuss the strategies of presentation and installation of an artwork so that the viewer could communicate with it.

Masha Danzis is an interdisciplinary artist; she works with video, conceptual photography and installation. Since 2016, she teaches new media and video art at the Faculty of Liberal Art and Sciences of the St Petersburg State University. Masha Danzis graduated from the Kassel Art College; she studied viewer's perception of video at an exhibition space during her postgraduate studies at the Berlin University of the Arts. In her art practice, Masha Danzis explores the impact of mass media culture on an individual's life, his/her feelings and relationship with society. She participated in exhibitions in Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, England and Russia.
