Conference Five: MUSEUM and EDUCATION
Since 2006, the State Hermitage Museum with the support from the The St Petersburg PRO ARTE Foundation for Culture and Arts organizes annual conferences to discuss important issues and problems of the museums in the 21st century: Museum and the Art Market (2006), Museum and the Mass Media (2007), Reconstruction, Restoration and Re-exposition (2008), Museum and the State (2010). The Hermitage provides a platform for discussions of the leading world art museums and brings together museum directors and curators, art historians, art critics, artists and journalists from all over the world. In the past years Metropolitan and MoMA, Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum, Kunsthistorisches Museum and Museums of Berlin – to name a few - took part in these meetings.
In 2012, the subject to be discussed is Museum and Education. The conference will look at two different but related aspects – educational activities of the modern museums and education of specialists for the museum/ the following questions will be discussed at the conference:
