PRO ARTE Foundation

The St. Petersburg PRO ARTE Foundation for Culture and Arts is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. Founded in 1999 and located in St. Petersburg, the Foundation promotes contemporary arts and culture, its main fields of activity being visual art, music, architecture, art journalism, and museum design. The Foundation supports projects of Russian artists and cultural organizations, produces exhibitions, festivals and concerts, organizes conferences, lectures and educational programs for young artists, journalists, designers, as well as for museum professionals.

Two major museum festivals initiated and produced by the PRO ARTE Foundation in St. Petersburg — “Contemporary Art in a Traditional Museum“ and “St. Petersburg Biennale of Museum Design“ — presented projects by more than 250 artists and designers from 20 countries in more than 100 St. Petersburg museums. Many projects of the PRO ARTE Foundation involve such partners as the State Hermitage Museum, the St. Petersburg Bolshoi Drama Theater, St. Petersburg State University.

The PRO ARTE Foundation programs are supported by the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture, Presidential Grants Fund, Vladimir Potanin Charitable Foundation, Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation, and other organizations and foundations.

In 2021, the Foundation was awarded by the National Innovation Prize for supporting contemporary art in Russia.
