The 4th Biennale Architecture of St. Petersburg, 2013 presents the best projects and buildings by St. Petersburg architects designed and built over the last two years.

The exhibition presents new urban construction, residential and public buildings, restored and reconstructed buildings, interior and urban design. 20 architectural studios that are members of the Association of Architectural Studios of St. Petersburg and engineering companies from the Guild of Architects and Engineers of St. Petersburg take part in the exhibition.

The St. Petersburg Committee for City Planning and Architecture presents its projects as well. The historical section of the exhibition focuses on the achievements of architect Igor Yavein (1903-1980), an outstanding expert on construction of transport infrastructure.

The educational program of the exhibition boasts lectures by the leading St. Petersburg and foreign architects from the Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Lithuania as well as a film program based on the archive materials from the Shchusev State Museum of Architecture.

In the section devoted to the work of young architects PRO ARTE Foundation will present three projects created by the students of St. Petersburg architectural universities during the workshop on green architecture lead by the Danish Architectural Bureau KATOxVictoria in 2012. The workshop was the part of a bigger project “Listening to Architecture, Composing Spaces” supported by the European Union.

The Architectural Annual featuring the best projects and buildings by St. Petersburg architects of 2011-2012 will be presented at the exhibition opening.

Biennale Architecture of St. Petersburg was first held in 2007. Over these years it has shown dozens of works by St. Petersburg Architects to thousands of visitors. The lectures delivered by the leading Russian and foreign architects draw attention as they are not limited to professional talks and invite all visitors to open discussion.

Non-profit Partnership Association of Architectural Studios was established in 1999. It is a club for professional architectural teams to discuss the ongoing urban construction issues they are facing. The association that presently includes twenty members publishes St Petersburg Architectural Annual featuring the current works of St Petersburg architects. www.oam.su

Since 2004 it has organised, in terms of the Contemporary Architecture programme, over 100 lectures of Russian and foreign architects as well as 20 exhibitions and conferences. www.proarte.ru
