THE HERMITAGE AMSTERDAM CREATES ITS EXHIBITIONS?

The Hermitage Amsterdam is a modern museum complex that includes display areas, lecture halls and information rooms and children’s education center. Developing exhibitions is a mutual work of curators, exhibition makers and designers. Knowledge and feedback of the public is essential. By exhibitions and related activities, the Hermitage Amsterdam presents world heritage from the collections of the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg, the Amsterdam Museum, the Rijksmuseum (the exhibition Portrait Gallery of the Golden Age), and Het Dolhuys museum (the Outsider Art Museum) in innovative ways.

During her presentation, Marlies Kleiterp as the Head of Exhibitions at the Hermitage Amsterdam will emphasize successful exhibition examples at the Hermitage Amsterdam, in which the design was of utmost importance, including Dining with the Tsars, Alexander, Napoleon and Josephine, Romanovs and Revolution and others.

Marlies Kleiterp is the Head of Exhibitions at the Hermitage Amsterdam and Stichting Producties De Nieuwe Kerk. She has a Master Degree in Art History and Archeology from the University of Leiden. In 1989–2005 she worked at the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (National Museum of Antiquities) in Leiden. She is a Board member at ICOM/ICEE (International Committee of Exhibition Exchange), a member at IEO (International Exhibition Organizers Group), a member of the Advisory Council at the Netherlands Institute in St. Petersburg, and a member of the Master’s Students Selection Committee for Museum Studies at University of Amsterdam (UvA)
